I study biological oceanography, focusing on nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) cycling and regeneration in the surface ocean. I am primarily focused on N and P changes over time and space throughout the Northern Gulf of Mexico.

I am also passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM. I served as a co-chair of the Lamont Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force, and created the Seminar Diversity Initiative at Lamont. I am a co-founder of the Seminar in Race, Climate Change, and Environmental Justice, and supervised Columbia Climate Conversations, an undergraduate-student led initiative to uplift the voices of primarily women of color in environmental and sustainability spaces. I strive to create solid foundations of diversity, equity, and inclusion in academia and beyond.
